Did you know that the first Honda car sold in the U.S. actually had a 2 cylinder 600cc air cooled motorcycle type engine? It was first introduced in the U.S. in 1969 as a 1970 model and had a top speed of 80 mph, but only got 31.6 mpg. The original MSRP was $1,395.00 and if you happen to see one today, you’ll likely see it in a museum as they are very rare. TJ Reilly (owner of Same Day Auto Service) used to work on these cars in the early 80’s when he was a Honda dealership technician in Southern California. When he moved to Oregon in 1983 he worked on Honda cars in N.E. Portland at a small independent Honda repair facility. In 1988 he opened his own shop in Clackamas, and his staff now services and repairs all Asian / Japanese vehicles as well as Domestic vehicles
